Goodreads synopsis:

Josiah Reign is an up-and-coming mixed martial arts fighter who’s never said no to a fight in his life. Tonight is no different. Out for a simple jog, he happens upon a young woman who needs help. So Josiah does what he does best. He takes on her attackers…all five of them, in fact. Little does Josiah know that this one act of goodwill will introduce him to a very strange world, a world of dreams…and nightmares. For this woman, Lena, is not who she seems, and her friends are the stuff of legends. Worst yet, Josiah finds himself falling for not one, but two of these deadly creatures of the night. And as Josiah suffers a devastating loss that rocks his world, he will fight for what he believes in. And fighting is what Josiah does best.

Do not skip this book because of this cover. If I were the author, I would pick a cover that is less TrueBlood and truer to the story. The cover is misleading. If the author reads this, PLEASE CHANGE THE COVER!!!! Let’s get to my review now that is out of my system.

I loved the fact that the author went and used MMA as part of the story. I haven’t seen MMA used as part of a storyline in all the books I have read. So huge kudos to the author.

Now the paranormal part of the book was pretty cut and dry. I also liked that Josiah kept the book about the shapeshifters/vampires in the dark. When I meant kept in the dark, he knew what was going on but refused to believe when Lena and Yari spilled the beans. Only when Atticai attacked him did he start to understand.

The love story part of the book wasn’t there. At least to me, it wasn’t. He was sleeping with Yari, wanted Lena, and ended up with both. But no real expressions of undying love were made by him. To him, yes.

The book ended abruptly. But it did lead into the 2nd book, which seems to be Tommy’s story.

So, will I read this again? Sure.
