What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next?
Personal:
Thursday: I did my civic duty and voted. Other than that, it was a pretty unremarkable day.
Friday: Again, another unremarkable day. Miss R had horseback riding. I gotta say, putting the horses out to pasture while it is dark out is interesting.
Saturday/Sunday: We had a chill weekend. Which meant we sat around and did nothing both days. We watched Enola Holmes (1 and 2) Saturday and Sunday. I’ve gotta say Henry Cavill as Sherlock was a good choice.
Monday: I ended up taking Snickers to the vet. She gets chronic UTIs and was exhibiting symptoms (not using a litterbox and overgrooming her privates were the main two). She got a shot of antibiotics, 4 days‘ worth of pain medication, and a suggestion to start using cat food that helps with UTIs. We also discussed what would happen going forward (if there is a next time). That would be an X-Ray of her bladder, with possible surgery.
Tuesday: I was back at the vet. But this time, to pick up a topical dewormer for all the cats. I noticed that Jesper had rice-like things on his butt over the weekend. I decided to take the wait-and-see route. I diagnosed it on Monday afternoon as a tapeworm (usually gotten by ingesting an infected flea), and I called Tuesday morning. The vet gave me Profender, which can be applied between the shoulder blades, and I applied it to all 5 cats. I spent Tuesday afternoon (after picking up Miss R from school) taking everything that Jesper has lain on and washing it in hot water. I also scrubbed down my couch and deep-cleaned my rug. Fun times.
The longest book I have read this week was a toss-up between Mostly Human 2 and Wicked Bleu. They both took me 2 days to read.
The shortest book I read this week was Shampoo & Conditioner. It took me about an hour to read.
I have started updating my older posts again. I am surprised how many books are no longer on Goodreads or Amazon. Guess I should make it a habit of cleaning up my old posts…lol.
I am ahead with my reading. I have finished all of the books I have scheduled for November (just needto write and schedule the reviews). So, I am giving myself a little break from reading just for reviews; I am reading for pleasure. My post this week will reflect that.
I am not so ahead with writing my reviews. I am not behind, by any means. but I do need to write 7reviews. Those reviews need to be posted in the next two weeks. So, here comes crunch time.
So that’s the essential things for this past week. How was your week?
As always, let me know if you have read or are planning to read any of these books!!

This Week’s Selection:
Synopsis:
In a land of strange beasts, haunted forests and fiery magic the Fire Mage is a legend no one believes in any more.
Especially not Jena, an orphaned ex-slave who’s finally found a safe haven with her master and mentor, the Great Mage Thornal. When royal assassins murder Thornal while trying to steal his powerful Book of Spells, Jena vows revenge on the man responsible—Prince Lothar, the next king of Ignisia.
It’s a dangerous quest that will likely mean her life, but Jena has help in the form of her master’s familiar, an enormous raven, and also her own—completely forbidden—mage skills. If she can keep her secrets hidden, she might just get close enough to Lothar to obtain justice for Thornal’s death.
Meanwhile failed mage Nate is a salt collector in the notoriously dangerous volcano mines, using his unique ability to call demons to keep himself alive. He emerges from his latest run to find everyone at the outpost dead, and royal assassins waiting to finish him off. He barely escapes with his life, but his elation is short-lived—Prince Lothar is convinced Nate is a threat to his claim to the Flame Throne of Ignisia, and will stop at nothing to eliminate him.
When Nate and Jena meet, they’re literally heading in different directions. But destiny—and the prophecies of the last Fire Mage—throws them onto the same path. They must work together if they are to save the kingdom—and themselves—from the machinations of a ruthless royal prince. Two unlikely heroes, one unscrupulous prince, and a swathe of dark and mysterious beasts—who will survive this encounter?
