While prepping for this prompt, I had to go back to the end of May/beginning of June. That is when I took my last vacation. We went to Florida and stayed in a resort for 4 days and another hotel for 3 (we hit up Animal Kingdom, my MIL, and Legoland). I was in heaven, reading-wise. I read all day and caught up with my TBR.

My Wife is Missing by D.J. Palmer
My Wife is Missing is a fast-moving psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Natalie and Michael have some martial/personal issues, and they decide to take a trip to New York City to reconnect. While Michael is out getting dinner, Natalie takes the kids and disappears. Michael is confused, angry, and concerned. Why? Because Natalie has had insomnia, and he fears the lack of sleep has made her irrational. What Michael doesn’t know is that Natalie has discovered some of Michael’s long-buried secrets, and those secrets have scared her enough to run. But hindering her is her severe insomnia, and she begins to wonder if what she saw and discovered were hallucinations brought on by it. Can Natalie trust herself to get to somewhere safe? Will Michael find her? Will she find out if what she saw/found out is the truth or hallucinations?
I was immediately intrigued by the blurb of this book. I don’t think I have ever read a book where insomnia was a huge and prevalent part of the plotline. I didn’t realize that severe insomnia could result in hallucinations/delusions.
Natalie was such an unreliable character, and I loved it. Her insomnia started when she realized Michael was cheating on her, and it kept getting worse throughout the book. I loved reading her detective work into Michael’s past and his affair. I also loved that when she decided to make a move, she made up her mind and did it. I was cheering for her as she out maneuvered Michael time and time again (even as exhausted as she was).
I wouldn’t say I liked Michael. But, he did gain a little bit of my respect with his detective skills. Even though Natalie was one step ahead of him for 90% of the book, he was close enough to get her a couple of times.
The storyline with Natalie, the kids, her insomnia, and being on the run kept me on the edge of my seat. I was internally cheering her on and wanting her to get to her final destination without Michael finding her. I was a little disappointed with how it ended, but my disappointment was short-lived. It was because the author brought this storyline and the storyline with Michael’s cheating/his past together, and it EXPLODED!!
Michael’s storyline, cheating, and past were well written. Again, it kept me glued to my Kindle. A twist to the cheating storyline and the story about Michael’s history took me by surprise.
The twists in the storylines made the book. I was not expecting either of them. When they both made their appearances (one towards the end and one at the very end), my mouth dropped open. I couldn’t believe that the author went where he did with both twists.
The end of My Wife is Missing was good. The author was able to wrap up all of the storylines in a way that both shocked and pleased me. I was happy to see that at least one of the main characters would have a happy life. But at the same time, I wish the author could have redeemed the other main character somehow. That would have made the book so much better for me.
I would recommend My Wife is Missing to anyone over 21. There is violence, language, and some mild sexual situations.

Here’s what has gone on since last week’s WWW Wednesday:
Miss B finished her end-of-grade and end-of-course testing earlier this week. She is officially on summer break!! She also passed her math end-of-grade test (she has a math-based learning disability and math is HARD for her.)
Miss R got thrown from her horse last week and landed hard on her back/butt. So hard that she hurt her tailbone. Thankfully, her friend’s mom is an NP and she examined her right there. She’s bruised and it hurts her to run but nothing was broken. She was afraid to get back on the horse but once she did, she was fine.
The shooting in Texas has shaken me, as it has with everyone else. The last time I felt like this was when Miss B was in kindergarten and Sandy Hook happened. I never thought that I would have to have to tell her what to do if there was a school shooting (I have told my older two since 6th grade). They are: Don’t be a hero, make yourself as small as a target as possible, run zig-zag, and listen to the teacher. She’s only 8, she shouldn’t be told this. But, BK and I agreed that starting next year, she will be included. It hurts me to do this but I am more concerned about her safety. If the government officials that we have elected won’t/can’t do anything, then I, as a parent, need to make sure she has the tools to ensure her safety IF something like this happens again.
We are in the last days of prepping for vacation. After the stress of end-of-grade/course testing and just general last day of school stuff, it is welcome.

Here’s what has gone on since last week’s WWW Wednesday:
I left my car idling for 8 hours on Wednesday. I have 2018Dodge Journey and it has a key fob. I was arguing with Miss R when I pulled into the driveway and parked. I must have not hit the button to shut it off before I got out. I did lock it, though. Miss B got me up at 1130 pm because she saw headlights on and thought someone was trying to steal the car. I grabbed my gun, went out of the car, and realized it had been running since 330pm. I almost died. Thankfully, besides a little gas that was used, there was no damage done.
Miss B was made stage manager in a musical that her friends were starring in. It was called Zombie Prom and she was super excited about it. Me, not so much. I was left waiting 45 mins on Friday night and 25 mins on Saturday night (after it ended) for her to come out.
BK was away from Wednesday through Sunday. He had to go to an event in Delaware. He didn’t have a great time (it rained) but had a better time than I did…lol.
Miss R had her first group horseback lesson since the beginning of April. Between travel for Easter, weather, and two horse shows, everything had been rescheduled. She was thrilled because she was on her favorite lesson horse.
The antibiotics did the trick. Snickers is using the litterbox again. She is acting like she’s feeling better (playing..etc), but I’m keeping an eye on her.

I can’t believe that January is almost over. It seems like yesterday that it was New Years Day and I was talking with my kids about New Years Resolutions (fun fact: we didn’t do any this year).
I didn’t have the best reading month in January. I went a whole week of not reading when my kids were home because of snow and I had an ocular migraine. So, I have a ton of books to catch up on.
I am all caught up on reviews. I know, how can I be caught up on reviews? Simple. I had 4 reviews that were due at the beginning of January and I just got to them. That does make me feel better.
