Synopsis:

IT’S TIME TO FLIRT WITH A MAN IN A KILT

Cassie Crow, a pop-culture reporter for a TV talk show, is focused on becoming a “serious” journalist. But when she stumbles into a kilted Highlander with a killer accent, Cassie decides that taking one night off from work and spending it with a sexy Scot couldn’t hurt. . .

Logan Reid has built a career on his charm, hosting a series of off-the-wall hijinks on the Web. But when the Scottish prankster meets the all-American, equal parts intelligent and irresistible Cassie, Logan realizes that one night of fun won’t be enough. Could it be that this career-focused, commitment-phobic couple is finally ready to take a chance at true and lasting love?

My review:

When I first saw the title of Getting Hot with the Scot, I was in love. I am a complete Anglophile. I love anything (and everything) that comes from England, Ireland or Scotland. I figured I was in for a treat. For the most part, I was. There were a few things that I didn’t like about the book. But other than that, I thought Getting Hot with the Scot was a delight to read.

I liked Cassie, even though she gave off some desperate vibes at the beginning of the book. She went on her dream trip expecting to have a fling. I don’t know about you, but that is not something I expect when I go on vacation. Flings, well, they happen. You can’t force them. I did like that she brought an industrial size box of condoms with her. While I agreed with her about being filmed, I also didn’t see the harm in letting them do it. I also understood her freak out seeing the release form in Logan’s jacket pocket. If I had spent 2 days with a guy and found that out, I would have reacted the same way.

I liked Chicago Cassie better than Trip Cassie. She was more real and relatable. She seemed more in control than when she was on the trip. Saying that I did think her reaction to seeing the video online was overboard. She signed a release. You would think that working on TV would have prepared her for that. It irritated me a little bit. But, I got over it. By the end of the book, Cassie was the most real that she was the entire book. I was able to connect to her the most at that point.

Logan, I didn’t care for. Imagine that, not caring for a hot Scottish man. It killed me inside to realize that. He came across as an immature prankster who only cared about his gratification. I also got some major stalker vibes through the book. He followed Cassie to her hotel. Got Theo to find out that they were staying there and booked a room. Then pretended to run into her. Then, he tracked her down in Chicago. When I say tracked her down, he called her. But still, he googled where she worked and found that where he was going was in the same building. Then debated showing up at her job!! No thank you. His immaturity shown through when he released the video of him and Cassie kissing in the castle. He was so wasted he couldn’t remember it. Drove me nuts. I wanted to smack him upside the head and say “Why, why did you do it?

The sexual tension was high in this book. From the first kiss, Cassie and Logan had it going on. The author was able to keep the spark going throughout the book. Intense sexual tension leads to some pretty awesome sex scenes. Even the makeup sex was hot!!

I had a love/hate relationship with the Scottish part of the book. I loved that it was set in the Highlands. I loved that the author had Logan, Janet and Mam speak like they were from there. I tend to read with accents, so that helped with me a lot. I loved that the Scottish traditions were detailed. But, I didn’t like having to google/look up words and holidays. Like clooties. I had no flipping idea what they were. I had to look them up. And so you guys don’t have too, click here for the link. I wish that there was a glossary or something at the end of the book. It would have helped.

The end of the book was sweet. I loved the talk that Mam gave Logan. He needed it. He needed to be told what she told him. I couldn’t stand Tiffany after what she did to Cassie. I was hoping that she got fired. The direction that Cassie’s career went was impressive!! What I loved, even more, was what Logan did during the New Years celebration. My heart melted.

My final impression of Getting Hot with the Scot is this. It is a cute romance. The chemistry between Logan and Cassie was electric. I did find that Logan was immature. He also gave off stalkerish vibes. I also noticed that Cassie tended to react and then think about what she did after the fact. But, this was a good read.

I would give Getting Hot with the Scot an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is language. There is mild violence. There are triggers. They would be the loss of a parent. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

I would reread Getting Hot with the Scot. I would also recommend this book to family and friends.

I would like to thank the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Getting Hot with the Scot.

All opinions stated in this review of Getting Hot with the Scot are mine.

GETTING HOT WITH THE SCOT 13

Would you look at that? The man is wearing a kilt.

Note to self: Cassie Crow—be careful what you wish for.

The man groaned again and raised a hand to shield his eyes from the sunlight now cutting across the hidden alcove.

“Are you all right?”

“I will be fine once ye douse that blasted light.” He squinted up at her. “Be ye a new chambermaid?”

Chambermaid? She eyed the wide sleeves and open neck of the old-fashioned piratey shirt he wore. “Not sure what kind of weird-ass stuff you’re into buddy, but I don’t do RPG.”

“Weird . . . ass?” His dark red brows drew together as he shaped his mouth around the letters. “Are pee gee?”

“Role playing games. You know, like cosplay or whatever.” She pointed at him. “Look, you’re the one wearing that get-up and talking like a reject from Macbeth.”

He narrowed his eyes at her finger. “Be ye a witch?”

“What did you call me?”

With another groan, he lurched forward. Oh God, what if he was hurt? For all she knew he was a member of some

historic castle tour who got lost in a back passageway and hit his head. She leaned down to inspect him for bruises.

He threw a hand out, palm up, warding her off. “Back away, sorceress,” he hissed.
“Seriously?” She slapped his hand out of the way. “Here, let me help you out of there.” Cassie tugged gently on his shoulder. The voluminous shirt was loose, but she could feel—and appreciate—the thick spread of muscle
beneath the soft fabric.

Just my luck, I finally run into a hot Highlander, and he’s delusional.

The man waved off her assistance and struggled to his feet, shaking a wild tousle of thick, red hair out of his eyes. Cassie never fancied herself to be a ginger girl, but it worked on him . . . or maybe that was the kilt talking. She
eyed the swath of plaid fabric wrapped around his hips and wondered, like any female in her position would, what might or might not be under there. Reluctantly, she raised her gaze and caught him scrutinizing her in return.

“What be these strange breeks ye wear?” he asked, moving in a circle around her.

Cassie swore she could feel the weight of each of his eyeballs resting on her denim-clad backside. Fair enough. After a prolonged moment, she glanced over her shoulder. “Get a good look?”

“Aye.” He swallowed. “’Tis most unseemly, lass.” He shook his head, gaze still glued to her ass.

“They’re called jeans.” She pivoted to face him. “Are you for real?”

He met her gaze, his answer falling from his lips in a deep, rich brogue with trilling r’s that curled her toes, “Aye, lass, I’m real.”

Cassie’s heart hiccupped. Of course he’s real. Unless

those shots were stronger than I thought. “Were you at the whisky tasting?”

“Whisky?” His green-gold eyes lit with interest. “Do ye have whisky for me, then? I could use a wee dram. Be a good lass and fetch it for me.”

“Ha! I think you’ve had enough, mister. Is that how you ended up stuck in there?” Even as she said this, Cassie doubted it. She didn’t smell a hint of alcohol on him, though she did pick up other pleasant smells. Mint and
clove and man and . . . Stop being ridiculous.

His broad shoulders lifted and dropped. “I dinna ken.”

“How long were you in there?”

Another shrug.

Cassie dragged her attention away from the wide curve of his shoulders and leaned past him, inspecting the dark, narrow space behind the bookshelf.

He grabbed her wrist and pulled her back, panic edging his voice. “Nay, lass. Doona be going in there.”

“Why not?” She inched forward and tried to get a better look.

“It canna be safe.” He tugged on her wrist again, his fingers warm and firm.

Tiny butterflies danced along the path where his skin touched hers. She brushed away the tingling sensation and slipped out of his grip, careful not to snag her bracelet. “Well, you were in there, and you appear to have managed.”

“Are ye daft, wench? I was trapped!”

She sniffed, not sure she liked being referred to as a wench, and frowned up at him. “What’s the last thing you remember?”

He closed his eyes and slumped against the shelf. “I canna recall anything afore the moment I woke to find my-

12 MELONIE JOHNSON

self crammed within yonder wall.” He blinked and focused intently on her. “The moment I found you, lass.”

Cassie decided she liked being called lass much better than wench, especially when he was looking at her like that. Gazes locked, her other senses sharpened, heightening her awareness of his body and its proximity to hers. She cleared her throat. “Hm. I think it’d be more accurate to say I’m the one who found you.” Telling herself she was only searching for injuries, she reached up and tentatively skimmed her palms along his temples, her fingers trailing his scalp.

“Looking for devil’s horns?” The man cocked one wicked brow at her as he raised his arms to mirror her movements, running his hands over her head and shoulders before brushing his palms down her back. “Ye’ve naught got any fairy wings, so I’d say we’re even. In fact,” he whispered against her hair, standing so close the low burr of his voice became a purr in her own chest, “ye feel perfect to me.”

Like the migrating monarchs her dad studied, the butterflies made a return trip, enveloping her in a fluttery haze. She shivered. Whether it was the Scot or the scotch or both, Cassie didn’t care. He was here and she was here,
and damn it all, it was about time she skipped to the good stuff. With a forceful mental click, Cassie turned off her brain, tilted her chin up, and caught his mouth with hers.

He made a low sound in the back of his throat, of protest or surprise, she wasn’t sure. But then his hands settled at her waist, and he returned the kiss. His mouth was somehow soft and hard at the same time, and when he
slipped his tongue between her lips, she felt more lightheaded than if she’d downed every shot of whisky that had been on that tasting list.

GETTING HOT WITH THE SCOT 13

Cassie rolled her tongue against his, savoring the delicious contact. He met her thrust for thrust, deepening the kiss until she was swept away on a tidal wave of desire. This. This is what I’ve been waiting for. She clung to him, hands gripping his shoulders, swimming in sensation, drowning in it.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

The first in a new series, a journalist focused on her career and a sexy Scottish comedian turn a one night stand into forever.

Cassie Crow leaves for vacation with two goals: fill up her empty charm bracelet and have a one night stand. For once, she wants to have fun instead of obsessively checking her work email. And kissing a man in a castle who’s dressed as a Scottish Highlander is the perfect solution.

Except when that man turns out to be Logan Reid, the host of a popular sketch show—and Cassie has just been roped into his latest prank. She wants nothing to do with his antics, but that was a really great kiss, and one night together couldn’t hurt.

It’s clear that one night isn’t enough and when Logan’s show brings him closer to Cassie, they decide to give dating a try. Can the woman who’s focused solely on her career and the man who refuses to take life seriously make it work?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

A Star Wars junkie and Shakespeare groupie who quotes both Yoda and the Bard with equal aplomb, award-winning author Melonie Johnson—aka #thewritinglush—is a two-time RWA Golden Heart® finalist who loves dark coffee, cheap wine, and expensive beer. And margaritas. And mimosas. And
mules. Basically any cocktail that starts with the letter m. She met her future husband in that most romantic of places—the mall—when they were teenagers working in stores across the hall from each other. They went on to live happily ever after in the suburbs of Chicago with two redhead daughters, a dog that’s more like a small horse, and a trio of hermit crabs. After earning her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Loyola University Chicago, Melonie taught high school English and Theatre in the
northern Chicago suburbs for several years. Now she writes smart and funny contemporary romance and moonlights as an audiobook narrator under the pseudonym, Evelyn Eibhlin.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Wars. So here what I have read/are reading/will be reading.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Personal:

Miss R: I registered her for kindergarten last week. Yes, kindergarten. I can’t believe that it is that time of year already. I am expecting to hear from her T-Ball coach within the next couple of weeks. Since she was in T-Ball last year, I was told that she will be on the same team. Kinda curious about who else will be enrolling (like kids in her class). She also got a dollhouse yesterday. One of the KidKraft ones that is taller than her. Took us about 3 hours to put together but it was worth it. She was thrilled.

Miss B: Happy to report that all is fine, finally, on her end. She has made up all of her ELA work and is rocking a B- in it. She has been spending less time in her cave (aka her bedroom) and spending more time in the living room.

Mr. Z: He was a mess this week. Why? His overnight field trip is this week (left yesterday, return today). It takes him a while to process change and he runs the gauntlet of emotions. So, his emotions were all over the place the end of last week, the weekend, and the beginning of this week. But, he’s having fun (wicked awesome was texted to us). I pick him up at school this afternoon and can’t wait to her about his experiences!!

Me: My cold is over with but then I had a Hashi’s flare. Which mimics a cold except that my fingers swell…sigh. I did get my couches on Friday and I love them. They are super comfy!! We hit up IKEA this weekend and picked up a couple of much needed items. Daylight Savings has kicked my butt. Don’t like it, wish I had my extra hour of sleep. But I do like that it is getting warmer out. We will be tilling the garden area this weekend, as well as doing some much needed yard work. The city has been doing pipework on the road that runs in back of my house (which is a main road). The water has been on/off brown (from the pipework). Which is wonderful when a white wash is thrown in and the water wasn’t checked before (BK!!!). It was like I hit the stain jackpot and I had to throw away several shirts/socks. Hopefully they’ll be done soon. It’s getting old.

Reading/Reviews:

Reading: I’m about where I want to be with reading. It did take me awhile to read one book over the weekend. But that was mainly due to us doing a ton of errands last weekend.

Review: I am a little behind writing reviews (see above). I am hoping to catch up between tomorrow and Friday. I have gotten through most of my author requests. Next on my to do list, get my NetGalley list down to an acceptable number again. I am still working on revamping my old blog posts. I am working on those at a snail’s pace. I stopped when I upgraded my blog. I needed to get the right theme and everything that goes with that.

What I am currently reading:

Breaking His Rules by [Mann, Aliza]
Click on the picture of the Amazon link

An international playboy finds true love in a sexy new standalone contemporary romance from Aliza Mann.

Ashton Lyle
is a man in control. His rules are simple:
Discipline.
Hard work.
No deviation.
And lucky for him no one is able to resist his mega-watt smile, dazzling wit, sexy British accent, and ability to manipulate any situation in business . . . and in bed.
That is, until he meets a woman with rules of her own.

Terra Ellis is a self-made woman who knows what she wants.
A successful entrepreneur, she has worked hard to cultivate an impeccable image.
A tumultuous relationship with her ex-husband has reinforced her drive but it has also made her question serious relationships.
After all, a busy woman has no time for romance.
That is, until Terra meets a man who sees through her façade.

Ashton and Terra are about to discover that some rules were made to be broken. . . .

I have a bad habit of starting books right before I go to sleep. I am only a couple of chapters into Breaking His Rules and I can’t wait to read more. Breaking His Rules is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is April 2nd, 2019.

I recently finished reading:

Bethlehem: A Novel by [Kelly, Karen]
Click on the picture of the Amazon link

With the writing chops of Ian McEwan and the story-craft of Lisa Wingate, Karen Kelly weaves a shattering debut about two intertwined families and the secrets that they buried during the gilded, glory days of Bethlehem, PA.

A young woman arrives at the grand ancestral home of her husband’s family, hoping to fortify her cracking marriage. But what she finds is not what she expected: tragedy haunts the hallways, whispering of heartache and a past she never knew existed.

Inspired by the true titans of the steel-boom era, Bethlehem is a story of temptation and regret, a story of secrets and the cost of keeping them, a story of forgiveness. It is the story of two complex women—thrown together in the name of family—who, in coming to understand each other, come finally to understand themselves.

The review for Bethlehem is going to be a hard one for me to write. I liked the dual storylines. I liked the time periods that they took place in. I liked most of the characters. But, there was that one character who I didn’t like. And there was a dropped storyline that made me scratch my head. Bethlehem is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is July 9th, 2019.

What books I think I’ll read next? (click on the pictures for Amazon links)

Smitten by the Brit (Sometimes in Love Book 2) by [Johnson, Melonie]

DEFINITELY, MAYBE…OR LOVE, ACTUALLY?

English professor Bonnie Blythe expects her life to play out like her favorite novels, especially now that her long-term boyfriend has finally proposed. So when a shocking discovery leads Bonnie to end her engagement, she decides to close the book on love. But the plot thickens when a brand-new character enters the scene—and quickens Bonnie’s heart.

With his brilliant blue eyes, sexy accent, and irresistible charm, Theo Wharton is like a romantic hero straight out of a Jane Austen novel. When fate places Bonnie in England for a summer—conveniently close to Theo—she realizes a hot friends-with-benefits fling is exactly what she needs to start a fresh chapter. Just as Bonnie begins to believe she’s falling in love, an eye-opening revelation into Theo’s life makes Bonnie feel like she’s wandered into one of her favorite books. Will Bonnie have the courage to risk her heart and turn the page with the dashing Brit to find her true happy ending after all?

I am excited to be reading Smitten by the Brit. I had read Getting Hot with the Scot and enjoyed Bonnie and Theo’s interactions. So, when I saw that they got their own story, I needed to read it. Smitten by the Brit is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is May 28th, 2019.

The Soul of Power (The Waking Land Book 3) by [Bates, Callie]

One young woman learns the true nature of power–both her own and others’–in the riveting conclusion to The Waking Land Trilogy.

Sophy Dunbarron–the illegitimate daughter of a king who never was–has always felt like an impostor. Separated from her birth mother, raised by parents mourning the loss of their true daughter, and unacknowledged by her father, Sophy desires only a place and a family to call her own. But fate has other ideas. Caught up in Elanna Valtai’s revolution, Sophy has become the reigning monarch of a once-divided country–a role she has been groomed her whole life to fill.

But as she quickly discovers, wearing a crown is quite a different thing from keeping a crown. With an influx of magic-bearing refugees pouring across the border, resources already thinned by war are stretched to the breaking point. Half the nobility in her court want her deposed, and the other half question her every decision. And every third person seems to be spontaneously manifesting magical powers.

When Elanna is captured and taken to Paladis, Sophy’s last ally seems to have vanished. Now it is up to her alone to navigate a political maze that becomes more complex and thorny by the day. And worse, Sophy is hiding a huge secret–one that could destroy her tenuous hold on the crown forever.

Don’t miss any of Callie Bates’s magical Waking Land trilogy:
THE WAKING LAND – THE MEMORY OF FIRE – THE SOUL OF POWER

Another book that I can’t wait to read. I have read the previous two books and loved them. Plus, Sophy is getting her story!! The Soul of Power is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is June 4th, 2019.

The Night Window: A Jane Hawk Novel by [Koontz, Dean]

#1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz brings Jane Hawk’s one-woman war to an explosive climax as the rogue FBI agent wages her final battle against a terrifying conspiracy–for vengeance, for justice, and for humanity’s freedom.

Groundbreaking, wholly involving, eerily prescient and terrifyingly topical, Dean Koontz’s Jane Hawk series sets a new standard for contemporary thrillers. Since her sensational debut in The Silent Corner, readers have been riveted by Jane Hawk’s resolute quest to take down the influential architects of an accelerating operation to control every level of society via an army of mind-altered citizens. At first, only Jane stood against the “Arcadian” conspirators, but slowly others have emerged to stand with her, even as there are troubling signs that the “adjusted” people are beginning to spin viciously out of control. Now, in the thrilling, climactic showdown that will decide America’s future, Jane will require all her resources–and more–as she confronts those at the malevolent, impregnable center of power.

And another book that I am excited to read. I can’t wait to see how Jane’s story ends!! The Night Window is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is May 14th, 2019.

So that’s it. Be on the lookout for the reviews of all these books in the near future.

The Three Ws are:

Personal

Miss R: She is finally doing great, health-wise. Then a huge bomb is dropped at her preschool. A couple of kids have the flu. Considering how easily she gets colds/lung infections, I have been Lysoling her room like crazy. But, she started coughing Monday night. So I’m hoping that it’s because of the crazy weather we have had lately and not because she’s coming down with something. I also found out that she was allergic to lions the other day. When she told me, she was dead serious. I am not sure how she knows she’s allergic to lions but I’ll take her at her word…lol.

Miss B: Oh where to start with Miss B. Remember the homework/classwork drama? Well, it got worse. Her science teacher updated PowerSchool over the weekend. She was missing 6 items. Guess what she spent Monday and Tuesday doing? Yup, she made up every single piece of work that she missed. She had a Dr’s appt on Monday and I brought it up to the Dr. The Dr talked to Miss B and stressed how important homework was. But she also said that kids with learning disabilities that are combined with ADHD have a harder time in middle school with remembering to turn work in. That high school will get better. What else came out of that Dr’s appointment? Miss B’s vitamin D levels were abnormally low. So, she has prescribed a super pill of vitamin D for 8 weeks. Which I have to pick up today.

Mr. Z: He has been surprisingly low key. We finished paying off his overnight class trip. Because he is doing so well in school, we got him a phone. BK ordered a SIM card from Mint Mobile. We installed it in my old Moto G, assigned him a phone number and bam, he has a phone now. Honestly, I think BK was more excited about the phone than Mr. Z was.

Me: I have discovered the wonderful world of podcasts. Right now, I am listening to The Vanished. But if there are any bookish ones out there, I would be thrilled to listen to them!!! I am in the middle of a Hashi’s flare and my whole body hurts :(. But, I’ll get over it and just chalk it up to me getting old. I also quit World of Warcraft. After 12 years of playing, I decided it was time to part ways. So what am I playing now? Final Fantasy 14. Amazon Prime and Twitch are running a special. If you download through Twitch, you get a month of Final Fantasy 14 free from Amazon. A whole flipping month. I couldn’t pass that up. I am enjoying it. It’s going to be $13.99 a month for a subscription and I think I might go for it. Of course, I will have to buy the expansion packages…lol. I want to full experience!!

Reading/Reviews:

I am right where I want to be review-wise. Reading-wise, I am behind. I blame it on the podcasts…lol. But, I am not missing publication dates or anything like that, so I’m good.

I am still plugging along at fixing my old blog posts. I haven’t spent much time on it since I downloaded Final Fantasy. I am hoping to knock off at least 5 today. Notice that I said, “hoping“. Not putting much faith in myself on actually doing that….lol.

What I am currently reading:

The first in a wickedly seductive new Scottish historical romance series from New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Enoch!

Marry or lose their estate; that’s the devil’s bargain he and his brothers must follow. But wild Highlander Niall MacTaggert’s stubborn oldest brother wants nothing to do with marrying the sophisticated, pinky-out Lady Amelia-Rose his mother has chosen for him, even to save their land. Niall’s only goal is to soften up the London socialite and show his brother the warm beauty behind the shiny, polished front. But what Niall doesn’t expect to find is the woman of his dreams…

I am a couple of chapters into this book. So far, I am liking it. I mean, what isn’t there to like? It’s a Regency romance with Scottish men in kilts. It’s Getting Scot in Here is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is February 26th, 2019. I am part of the blog tour and my post will be going up February 27th, 2019.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Wars. So here what I have read/are reading/will be reading.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Personal

Miss R is 100% better. I had to take her back to the Dr on Friday to get her lungs checked out. She passed with flying colors. She is back to her mischievous, sassy, 5-year-old self.

Miss B has started off the 2nd semester on the wrong foot. Again, she decided not to turn in anything in ELA. But, she also decided not to turn in a project on the French Revolution in for Social Studies. She has until the end of the week to turn everything in or she can’t try out for softball and she can’t go to the Valentine’s Day dance on the 15th. A bit harsh but I am at the end of my rope.

Mr. Z is his regular happy go lucky self. He is my bookworm out of the 3. His favorite series is the Warriors Series by Erin Hunter. He has all of the books (there are 4 series written in that world). He is slowly working on getting the manga books written by her as well as novellas. Then he is going to start on the Survivors series (about dogs), the Bravelands (about monkeys), and the Seekers series (about bears). His report card was great. He made A honor roll.

I have been enjoying this warm weather. In my part of North Carolina, it has been near 80. Which are the temps we get in April. Last weekend, BK and I worked in the yard. Well, I worked in the yard while BK worked on some stuff that needed to be repaired under the house. We also plotted our garden for this year.

Reading/Reviews:

I am right where I am supposed to be in the reading/review department.

Remember those huge tasks that I said I undertook last week? Well, I finished reorganizing my Goodreads shelf. I now have a Read shelf, a Currently Reading shelf, a Want to Read shelf, a TBR shelf, and a waiting to be reviewed shelf. That was an undertaking. I started at the end of my Want to Read shelf and worked backward. I got rid of any books that were no longer on Amazon (got the screen with the dogs), any books that were part of a series that I haven’t read, and books that made me go “What was I thinking“. It took me 5 days to do. It would have been shorter but the freaking shelf reset itself and I had to start over.

Now, I need to get started on fixing my blog posts. That is going to be another huge undertaking.

I have been doing more blog tours and I signed up for ARC teams. I am trying to figure out how to contact publishers on NetGalley (mainly Loveswept) to let them know I am available to do those. If someone knows, shoot me an email via my contact form, please!! I also revamped my NetGalley bio to say that.

What I am currently reading:

After She's Gone: A Novel (Hanne Lagerlind-Schon Book 2) by [Grebe, Camilla]

click on the picture for Amazon link

In a small backwater town in Sweden, a young boy with a dark secret comes across a diary. As a cold case investigation suddenly becomes eerily current, a police investigator mysteriously disappears. What links these seemingly random events?

As atrocious acts from the past haunt the present and lives are changed forever, some will struggle to remember – while others struggle to forget . . .

The new thriller from the acclaimed author of THE ICE BENEATH HER, described as ‘Scandi-noir at its powerful bleakest’ by the Daily Mail and ‘unsettling, menacing and compulsively written’ by Heat, this is another slice of tense and twisted drama that will chill you to the bone.

I am 23% into After She’s Gone. It did get off to a slow start but it is starting to pick up speed. Jake, Hanne, and Malin are interesting characters. I can’t wait to see where this book takes them. After She’s Gone is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is February 26th, 2019. Be on the lookout for my review on or after that date.

Own To Obey (Myth of Omega Book 7) by [Ellis, Zoey]

He obtained her – and now she must obey

The Alpha Prince

Brutality and tradition are a way of life for ferocious tribe leader, Kardos. Born different from the other princes, he strives to be the best–to earn his place and prove his worth.

After negotiating for a rare Omega not seen in his Land for over one hundred years, he is keen to present her to the High Chief and gain the recognition he deserves.

It doesn’t matter that she has mesmerizing beauty, or that her manner is too mild for his culture. It doesn’t matter that deep down, a craving burns strong to keep her for himself.

She must accept her fate – and so must he.

The Omega Gift

Sheltered all her life, Omega Shaya found joy in the gardens of her home, the protection of her sister, and the simplicity of her life.

But when the decision to save her sister suddenly puts her in the possession of a fierce tribal warrior, she begins to understand that life can be savage, and painful, and complex.

Alone, and with no way to protect herself, Shaya is determined to overcome the harsh treatment of a culture she doesn’t understand, but when she finds herself attracted to the Alpha’s dominance, she has to find a way to resist him so he doesn’t break her completely; body, mind, and heart.

Own To Obey is the first book in this couple’s story, but the seventh installment of the Myth of Omega series. This is a dark, steamy, Omegaverse romance. Cliff-hanger included. For fans of barbarian Alpha anti-heroes, sweet but savvy Omega heroines, epic fantasy worlds, and captive romances. Discover a magical kind of dark…

Own To Obey includes romance and situations of a dark nature. Some aspects of this story may be sensitive for some readers. For ages 18 and over

I got Own to Obey as a last minute ARC from a publisher who’s review team I joined. While I liked this book, it will not be for most people. There are some scenes that made me wince. Own to Obey is currently available to buy. Be on the lookout for my review at some point today.

The Winter of the Witch: A Novel (Winternight Trilogy Book 3) by [Arden, Katherine]

But she may not be able to save them all.

I have been waiting patiently to read Winter of the Witch. And it is up next!! I am excited and can’t wait. I need to know what is going to happen to Vasya and Morozko. Winter of the Witch is currently available to buy. Be on the lookout for my review at some point this week.

Bethlehem caught my attention when I got the invite to review. I thought that the cover was beautiful and the blurb made me want to read it. So I accepted the invite. Bethlehem is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is July 9th, 2019. My review should be after that date.

Inspection: A Novel by [Malerman, Josh]

J is a student at a school deep in a forest far away from the rest of the world.

J is one of only twenty-six students, all of whom think of the school’s enigmatic founder as their father. J’s peers are the only family he has ever had. The students are being trained to be prodigies of art, science, and athletics, and their life at the school is all they know—and all they are allowed to know.

But J suspects that there is something out there, beyond the pines, that the founder does not want him to see, and he’s beginning to ask questions. What is the real purpose of this place? Why can the students never leave? And what secrets is their father hiding from them?

Meanwhile, on the other side of the forest, in a school very much like J’s, a girl named K is asking the same questions. J has never seen a girl, and K has never seen a boy. As K and J work to investigate the secrets of their two strange schools, they come to discover something even more mysterious: each other.

I can’t wait to read Inspection. The blurb makes it seem like it is going to be a fantastic read!! Inspection is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is March 19th, 2019. Look for my review after that date.

An English professor starts a new chapter in her life and is swept up in a Jane Austen-esque romance with a modern day duke

Bonnie Blythe has modeled her life after her favorite books. If only her fiancé would get on the same page and agree to a wedding date.

She’s not at all bitter that her best friend is getting married to a man she’s known for less than a year, and Bonnie most definitely isn’t thinking about the best man to be, Theo Wharton. It’s just whenever she talks with the blue-eyed Brit, sparks fly.

When a shocking reveal ends Bonnie’s engagement, she accepts a summer teaching job at Cambridge—only an hour away from Theo. Bonnie isn’t ready for a new relationship, but the chemistry between her and Theo is impossible to ignore. But Theo’s been hiding the truth about his identity; will Bonnie be able to weather the plot twist and grab the happily ever after of her dreams?

I am very excited to read Smitten by the Brit!! I had read (and reviewed) Getting Hot with Scot and enjoyed it. So, I have high hopes for this book. Smitten by the Brit is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is May 28th, 2019. Be on the lookout for my review after that date.

Another book that I can’t wait to read. I have read the previous 2 books in the trilogy and I can’t wait to read Sophy’s story. The Soul of Power is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is June 4th, 2019. Look for my review after that date.

The first in a wickedly seductive new Scottish historical romance series from New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Enoch!

Marry or lose their estate; that’s the devil’s bargain he and his brothers must follow. Niall’s only goal is to soften up the London socialite, and show his brother the warm beauty behind the shiny, polished front. But what Niall doesn’t expect to find is the woman of his dreams…

I got this book solely because of the title. Everytime I see it, I get Nelly’sIt’s Getting Hot in Here” in my head. It’s Getting Scot in here is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is February 26th, 2019. Be on the lookout for my review on February 27th, 2019 (part of the blog tour).

So that’s it. Be on the lookout for the reviews of all these books in the near future.
