WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Wars.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Personal:

Miss R: She started swim lessons the beginning of the week. I resigned her up for the next two weeks on Monday. I also signed her up for Bumble Bee soccer for the fall. She also attended a few events at the library with Mr. Z.

Mr. Z: He is still reading the books from last week. With Miss R, he attended the same events at the library. He’s excited for Harry Potter Jeopardy that is happening in the next couple of weeks. He also started swim lesson on Monday and I resigned him up for more lessons.

Miss B: Out of my three, she is the only kid who hasn’t had anything scheduled last week. She is content sitting at home and riding her bike. She did attend the craft event at the library on Monday.

Me: Well, the patch didn’t work in the pool. BK filled it up Saturday and by Sunday afternoon, it was leaking again. More money out the window…sigh. We are getting a new pool this weekend. Hopefully, it won’t tear.

Reading/Reviews/Blog:

Reading: This is the 3rd or 4th week where I finished reading the books on last weeks “What do you think you’ll read next” section. I’m hoping to keep up the streak for next week!! I am still knocking books off of my NetGalley backlog.

Reviews: I am behind on writing reviews. I am 2 books behind. Which isn’t bad. I don’t have any blog tour reviews to write for next week. Which is awesome. I am liking my new system of writing down blog tours/cover reveals/book blitzes on a calendar. That way, I don’t double or triple book stuff on the same day (which is happening on the 15th, unfortunately)

Blog: I haven’t gotten around to fixing my issues from last week. I am making that a priority this week.

What I am currently reading:

The Woman He Knows by Margaret Watson

Darcy Gordon is hiding, watching for her past to catch up with her. So when her boss is injured in a suspicious accident, she’s certain it was meant for her. But instead of fleeing, as every instinct screams, guilt forces her to stay and help her boss’s brother run the restaurant where she works.

There’s just one problem – Patrick Devereux is an FBI agent. His too-sharp eyes threaten to reveal all her secrets. Expose her for who she really is. She wants to lower her guard and let Patrick know her. But when he learns the truth, will he understand? Or will he arrest her?

I just started The Woman He Knows last night. I read 2 paragraphs before I fell asleep. So, I don’t have an impression of the book yet.

The Woman He Knows is currently available for purchase. Look for my review within the next week.

I recently finished reading:

Red Dawn Rising by Margaret Watson

Musician Cassidy Drake has no idea who she really is until a brutal attack on her mother reveals truths she never could have imagined. Finn Brody, the mysterious man she meets at the hospital, suspects Cassidy’s true nature when magic erupts around them.

Cassidy and Finn are drawn into a battle neither of them want. But they are essential in the quest to stop the evil fae queen from conquering the human world. Joined with the rest of The Four, can they defeat an entity with vast, unimaginable power? Or will they be the first casualties in the coming epic battle for survival?

I loved this book. It was a fantastic ending to a fantastic series. So many questions were answered. Including the ones I had about Finn.

Red Dawn Rising is currently available for purchase. Look for my review within the coming week.

What books I think I’ll read next?

Bending the Rules by Margaret Watson

The hardest thing is doing what’s right. Nathan Devereux’s parenting days are over. He raised his siblings, and now he’s ready to start living a life free of responsibility. After the year he’s had, he deserves it. But when the daughter he never knew existed and her way too tempting guardian, Emma Sloan, show up, his plans go out the window.

Nathan can’t ignore his daughter…or Emma. Yet having a relationship with them means giving up what he’s worked for. Worse, his past is sneaking up behind him and could threaten them all. He faces a choice he’s not sure he can make—or even wants to. Turn his back on Emma and his daughter? Or bend the rules to protect them? Either way, their future is at stake.

As you can probably tell, I am on a Margaret Watson kick. I enjoy her books and I am hoping to enjoy this one.

Bending the Rules is currently available for purchase. Look for my review within the coming week.

The Other Brother by Hazel Kelly

I never imagined I’d hit rock bottom.

To be honest, the only thing I expected less was him

From the moment our eyes met across the zucchini, something woke in me and started dusting away the cobwebs I’d let gather around my heart.

Not that there was anything loveable about the guy. He was gentle as a scorpion when I met him, and his venomous words stung me more than once. Which was fine. Really. Detesting him made it easier to do my job. Easier to sleep at night.

But it was all a front, a costume, a lie. He’d simply been a beast for so long he didn’t know how to stop stomping around his castle, his grudges clanging behind him like a rusted ball and chain.

Yet even the most hardened men can change. Even the most stubborn can learn to admit when they’re wrong.

Not that Ash was wrong very often. At least, not when it came to me.

And now I feel hopeful again. Beautiful. Enchanted.

All because of a beast.

I can’t wait to read The Other Brother. I am getting a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast vibe from the blurb. Here’s to hoping that the book lives up to the blurb!!

The Other Brother is currently available for purchase. Be on the lookout for my review within the next week.

Southern Sass and Killer Cravings by Kate Young

Life has always been sweet on Georgia’s Peach Cove Island, but a case of murder has Marygene Brown down in the pits . . .

For generations, the women of the Brown family on Peach Cove Island have been known for their Southern sass and sweet homemade desserts at their beloved Peach Diner. Since their mother’s passing two years ago, Marygene has been stuck in Atlanta while her sister Jena Lynn has been running the family business. Now Marygene has left her husband and returned to her hometown, where she can almost feel Mama’s presence.

But all is not peachy back home. Marygene has barely tied on an apron when a diner regular drops dead at the counter. When it turns out the old man’s been poisoned, Jena Lynn is led away in handcuffs and the family eatery is closed. Now, to save her sister and the diner, Marygene must find the real killer. With some startling assistance from her Mama’s spirit, Marygene will be serving up a special order of just desserts . . .

Includes Seven Recipes from Marygene’s Kitchen!

I won Southern Sass and Killer Cravings from Goodreads and I put off reading it. Well, kinda. I read the first 4 chapters. I then realized that I was way behind on my ARC’s and put it down. So, I am picking it back up this week. I hope that it will be good. What I read was great.

Southern Sass and Killer Cravings is currently available for purchase. Be on the lookout for my review within the next week.

Mid Year Freak Out Book Tag—July 2019

I have been seeing this come up a ton on the blogs that I follow. So I figured, why not!! So, here I go!!

Goodreads Challenge

Since I am technology impared today (I can’t get my Goodreads challenge to show up here), here are my stats:

I have read 120 books out of 250. I am 48% done with my challenge and am 7 books behind schedule. Which isn’t bad considering I had some real life challenges thrown my way!!

Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2019

This is a hard one. I have read so many good books this year. But the winner is:

Glory Bishop by [King, Deborah L.]

I loved this book. It struck a nerve with me while reading it and I couldn’t stop thinking about it after I was done.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2019

Crown Of Contempt (Novi Navarro Chronicles, #2)

I absolutely loved this sequel. Loved, loved, loved it!!

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To

The Farm: A Novel by [Ramos, Joanne]

This is on my must read list. I keep seeing reviews for it on blogs I follow. As soon as I am done with my backlog, this will be the first book I read.

Most Anticipated Release of the Second Half of 2019

The Grace Year

and

The Girl the Sea Gave Back

I was psyched when I got approved for The Grace Year. I was also psyched when my wish got granted for The Girl the Sea Gave Back. Hoping that these books are as good as the blurbs make them out to me.

Biggest Disappointment:

Let's Talk About Sext (Let's Talk About Sext, #1)
Review here

Awful female main character, pushover male main character, lack of any sort of sexual attraction. Just a small bit of what disappointed me about this book. Which is sad because I had read Evie Claire’s books before and loved them.

I thought that the story itself was good. But I couldn’t get past the main characters.

Biggest Surprise

Darwin's Cipher
review here

I wasn’t expecting to like this book as much as I did. I couldn’t put the book down!!

Favorite New to You or Debut Author:

Kingdom of Exiles (The Beast Charmer, #1)
review here

I devoured this book and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Favorite Crush:

Touch of Smoke

Owen Amir – A Touch of Smoke. He was the complete package. He was head over heels for Rikki. He also risked everything for her.

Favorite Character:

I got two from the same book:

Cruel Intentions (Rydeville High Elite #1)
my review here

Abby: She was tough as nails and didn’t back down from anyone. I loved her!!

Cam: Even though he was a jerk for most of the book, I loved him.

Book That Made You Cry:

Mrs. Everything
my review here

Book That Made You Happy:

Can't Stand the Heat? (Welcome to Otter Tail Book 2)
my review here

and

Keeping Lucy: A Novel

Book to Movie Adaptation:

Eh, I just realized that I haven’t seen any book to movie adaptations so far this year.

Favorite Blog Post of Mine:

People really seem to still be digging my review of The Sweetest Oblivion. Since I don’t do discussion posts (I would rather read), that will have to do.

Favorite Review You’ve Written This Year?

My review of Cruel Intentions. I loved that book!!!

Most Beautiful Book You Bought or Received So Far This Year?

I won these two books off of Goodreads. Which never happens, so I am excited to be showing them off…lol.

I'll Never Tell

and

Southern Sass and Killer Cravings (Marygene Brown #1)

What Books Do You Need to Read by the End of the Year?

Oh boy, that is a loaded question. So, I’ll just take a few off of my “waiting to be review pile” that haven’t been on here yet

Steel Crow Saga
Nocturne in Ashes (Riley Forte #1)
The Orchid Throne (Forgotten Empires, #1)
Followers

This is where I am supposed to tag people. But, instead, I am going to leave this open ended. Can’t wait to read everyone’s!!
