WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Wars. So here what I have read/are reading/will be reading.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Personal:

Miss R: Things are going well with her. She’s still the same sassy girl. She was thrilled this weekend. She got to ride her bike. We live on a somewhat busy street and don’t allow bike riding during the weekdays. Weekends, on the other hand, are a different story. But, since Christmas, the every single weekend has rained or she has been sick. So, Saturday, it was perfect out. Low 60’s and sunny. She rode her bike for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, this weekend, it won’t be happening. More darn rain.

Miss B: Remember the homework/classwork drama. Last night, her ELA teacher updated and more classwork/homework was missing. After 20 mins of her saying that the teacher wasn’t updating, she caved. She lost her folder (for written work) and wasn’t turning anything in on Google Classroom. I wrote an email to her teacher, asking exactly what was missing. Got the list back and Miss B did 90% of it last night. She is also grounded for lying to us and for almost allowing us to write to the principal about her teacher. We are still trying to figure out why she wasn’t turning in the stuff on Google Classroom. Most of the stuff she already did and just needed to attach the document and send. I’m done. I told her that 8th grade will NOT be like this. There is a certain high school she wants to go too and she needs to apply (there are 8 high schools in the area…kid you not). Its not going to look good on her application if she isn’t turning her work in.

Mr. Z: He is a nervous wreck. Next week, his 5th grade class is going on an overnight field trip to a place in South Carolina. It will be an a YMCA campground. The issue he’s having is that he will be away from us. He has never slept away. Plus, he won’t be allowed to bring his phone (which is a good thing). I am expecting a teary phone call from him Tuesday night.

Me: I have a freaking cold and I am miserable. Forget my kids picking up every little thing, I do. I can’t wait until it get warmer out and I can air the house out. My love seat and sofa is supposed to come on Friday. I can’t wait. My friend is taking my old sofa and, unfortunately, I am throwing out my old love seat. It’s beyond repair. I am still playing Black Desert Online and I am liking it. I had to get used to the way the controls are in the game. Everything is done by hotkeys (or my gaming mouse) and A/W/S/D/Control. Once I got the hang of it, I was good. Oh yeah, I also updated my blog this morning. They had the Premium plan for the same price as the Personal plan. So, it was a no brainer…lol.

I am also still listening to The Vanished. There is one episode (actually 3 part episode) that got me angry. Something that probably could have been solved was swept under the rug by the sheriff department. It made me think that someone there is covering something up.

Reading/Reviews:

Reading-wise: I do have an ARC due next week. Other than that, I’m pretty good.

Review-wise: Again, I am doing well. I do have one review to write (which I will do once I pick up Miss R from preschool). I am still holding strong on my no requesting anything from NetGalley. I did get a ton of author requests that needed to be done asap.

What I am currently reading:

Play to Win: A Wynn Hockey Novel by [Jamieson, Kelly]
Click on picture for Amazon link

Meet the Wynns—a hockey dynasty built on family, money, and drama. From USA Today bestselling author Kelly Jamieson, the first novel in a new series is a total win-win.

“Kelly Jamieson is an auto-buy for me.”—Carly Phillips

After an injury forced Théo Wynn to give up professional hockey, he turned to his second love: numbers. Now, as the general manager of his grandfather’s NHL team, the Los Angeles Condors, Théo is dying to prove to the rest of his family—especially the brother who betrayed him—that he’s just as successful as the rest of them. If only Théo had a gorgeous woman on his arm to complete the picture. . . .

Lacey Olson needs to get out of Las Vegas right now, thanks to her no-good, crooked brother. When a handsome stranger who’s out partying with friends comes to her rescue in the cocktail lounge where she works, they strike up a conversation that leads to a crazy plan: her leaving with Théo for L.A. tomorrow. A few drinks later, the idea gets even crazier: a quickie marriage that works for both of them.

But back in California, Lacey immediately turns Théo’s precise, well-ordered life into one big beach party. And before long, she’s tempting him with her smart mouth, sexy body, and sunny charm. The last thing Théo needs is a real relationship to distract him. Because he only plays to win. . . .

I started this when I went to bed last night. I am almost done with it. It is that good. I loved Theo and Lacey. Both separately and together. And Theo’s family. Talk about a Jerry Springer episode type family. Play to Win is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is March 19th, 2019.

I recently finished reading:

An Unfortunate Dimension by [Schunker, Dominic]
click on the picture for Amazon link

An Unfortunate Dimension is a psychological thriller with a twist you’ll never see coming.

Salvador is thrown into battle and intense laser fire. He doesn’t know how he got here or why, and that’s just one of his problems. He’s been experiencing a sort of dimensional schizophrenia, jumping into bizarre scenes past, present and future. Is the universe messing with him, interfering with his only goal, to bring his wife Jemma out of her coma?

He grows sure Jemma is trying to communicate a solution from her dimension, trying to tell him how to save her, to bring her back round. She tells him to look for signs, find a pattern, and soon he does. His dad’s old car, a song, a demon, and Camille, his lost best friend from school.

He learns Jemma was the teacher on going-home-duty when a little girl, Ashlen, vanished a few months ago. Why didn’t she tell him about Ashlen? He becomes convinced it’s a clue. The school is quizzed, the police are quizzed but still no answers. His mission races on when he learns they’ll turn off Jemma’s life support in seven days.

What if Jemma’s goal is not to save herself, but something else? Eventually he realises it’s to save Ashlen, to ease her guilt, allow her to recover. That’s the link, here is the reason for the pattern: save Ashen and that will bring Jemma round.

Between dimensions and interactions with Jemma and Camille, from a VR game, space travel and a distant planet awaiting its foretold enlightenment, Salvador knows what he must do. Nothing is as it seems, and the invasive truth is coming.

I am still processing this book. I finished reading it yesterday afternoon and had to sit on it for a while. It is good and there is a huge twist at the end of the book that I didn’t even remotely see coming. It was everything else in between that I needed to process. An Unfortunate Dimension is currently available for purchase

What books I think I’ll read next? (click on the pictures for Amazon links)

Inspection: A Novel by [Malerman, Josh]

J is a student at a school deep in a forest far away from the rest of the world.

J is one of only twenty-six students, all of whom think of the school’s enigmatic founder as their father. J’s peers are the only family he has ever had. The students are being trained to be prodigies of art, science, and athletics, and their life at the school is all they know—and all they are allowed to know.

But J suspects that there is something out there, beyond the pines, that the founder does not want him to see, and he’s beginning to ask questions. What is the real purpose of this place? Why can the students never leave? And what secrets is their father hiding from them?

Meanwhile, on the other side of the forest, in a school very much like J’s, a girl named K is asking the same questions. J has never seen a girl, and K has never seen a boy. As K and J work to investigate the secrets of their two strange schools, they come to discover something even more mysterious: each other.

I am looking forward to reading this book. I have seen numerous reviews on it, both good and bad. I am hoping to see where it falls for me. Inspection is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is March 19th, 2019.

Bethlehem: A Novel by [Kelly, Karen]

With the writing chops of Ian McEwan and the story-craft of Lisa Wingate, Karen Kelly weaves a shattering debut about two intertwined families and the secrets that they buried during the gilded, glory days of Bethlehem, PA.

A young woman arrives at the grand ancestral home of her husband’s family, hoping to fortify her cracking marriage. But what she finds is not what she expected: tragedy haunts the hallways, whispering of heartache and a past she never knew existed.

Inspired by the true titans of the steel-boom era, Bethlehem is a story of temptation and regret, a story of secrets and the cost of keeping them, a story of forgiveness. It is the story of two complex women—thrown together in the name of family—who, in coming to understand each other, come finally to understand themselves.

I like historical fiction. When I read the blurb for this book, it got my attention. Plus, I liked the cover. Bethlehem is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is July 9th, 2019.

Breaking His Rules by [Mann, Aliza]

An international playboy finds true love in a sexy new standalone contemporary romance from Aliza Mann.

Ashton Lyle
is a man in control. His rules are simple:
Discipline.
Hard work.
No deviation.
And lucky for him no one is able to resist his mega-watt smile, dazzling wit, sexy British accent, and ability to manipulate any situation in business . . . and in bed.
That is, until he meets a woman with rules of her own.

Terra Ellis is a self-made woman who knows what she wants.
A successful entrepreneur, she has worked hard to cultivate an impeccable image.
A tumultuous relationship with her ex-husband has reinforced her drive but it has also made her question serious relationships.
After all, a busy woman has no time for romance.
That is, until Terra meets a man who sees through her façade.

Ashton and Terra are about to discover that some rules were made to be broken. . . .

Another book that I got for the cover. The blurb also got my attention. I love a book with a strong woman. Breaking His Rules is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is April 2nd, 2019.

The Betrayer (Crossing Realms Series Book 3) by [Neely, Rebecca E.]

With the Second Rebellion raging in the city, Curtis Geary, the Keepers’ tech guru, receives a Compulsion for Jordan, a Betrayer ousted by her brood and left for dead. His orders? Obtain information from her that can save his clan—before it’s too late. Plunged into a war zone, cut off from his clan, Curtis quickly discovers this woman is no ordinary Betrayer. Not only does his Vitality energy inexplicably save her life, she may be the missing link in the Keepers’ quest to restore Similitude—the Betrayers’ manufactured weapon deadly to Keepers.

Despised by her own brood, Jordan’s mysterious ability and a wicked set of street smarts have kept her alive—along with the havoc she’s been forced to wreak on humans as a means of creating dark energy. Against his better judgement, Curtis is helplessly drawn to this enigma of a woman, who defies the logic of his trusty computers. Too, despite a lifetime of mistrust and her soldier’s survival instincts, Jordan can’t help falling for this at times awkward but genuine man who offers her what she’s always yearned for—love and an opportunity for a better life.

But in a race against time and a brood master hell-bent on destruction, love and loyalty will come under fire—within the brood and the clan. Can Jordan find the courage to embrace her future and find love? Or will she betray the clan and herself as the Keepers wage what may be their final battle to save the human race?

I have been eagerly anticipating the release of this book. When the author approached me to review it, I did a happy dance in my living room. The Betrayer is currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is April 2nd, 2019.

So that’s it. Be on the lookout for the reviews of all these books in the near future.

HAVE YOU READ ANY OF THESE BOOKS?
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF THEM!!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Wars. So here what I have read/are reading/will be reading.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Personal

Miss R is 100% better. I had to take her back to the Dr on Friday to get her lungs checked out. She passed with flying colors. She is back to her mischievous, sassy, 5-year-old self.

Miss B has started off the 2nd semester on the wrong foot. Again, she decided not to turn in anything in ELA. But, she also decided not to turn in a project on the French Revolution in for Social Studies. She has until the end of the week to turn everything in or she can’t try out for softball and she can’t go to the Valentine’s Day dance on the 15th. A bit harsh but I am at the end of my rope.

Mr. Z is his regular happy go lucky self. He is my bookworm out of the 3. His favorite series is the Warriors Series by Erin Hunter. He has all of the books (there are 4 series written in that world). He is slowly working on getting the manga books written by her as well as novellas. Then he is going to start on the Survivors series (about dogs), the Bravelands (about monkeys), and the Seekers series (about bears). His report card was great. He made A honor roll.

I have been enjoying this warm weather. In my part of North Carolina, it has been near 80. Which are the temps we get in April. Last weekend, BK and I worked in the yard. Well, I worked in the yard while BK worked on some stuff that needed to be repaired under the house. We also plotted our garden for this year.

Reading/Reviews:

I am right where I am supposed to be in the reading/review department.

Remember those huge tasks that I said I undertook last week? Well, I finished reorganizing my Goodreads shelf. I now have a Read shelf, a Currently Reading shelf, a Want to Read shelf, a TBR shelf, and a waiting to be reviewed shelf. That was an undertaking. I started at the end of my Want to Read shelf and worked backward. I got rid of any books that were no longer on Amazon (got the screen with the dogs), any books that were part of a series that I haven’t read, and books that made me go “What was I thinking“. It took me 5 days to do. It would have been shorter but the freaking shelf reset itself and I had to start over.

Now, I need to get started on fixing my blog posts. That is going to be another huge undertaking.

I have been doing more blog tours and I signed up for ARC teams. I am trying to figure out how to contact publishers on NetGalley (mainly Loveswept) to let them know I am available to do those. If someone knows, shoot me an email via my contact form, please!! I also revamped my NetGalley bio to say that.

What I am currently reading:

After She's Gone: A Novel (Hanne Lagerlind-Schon Book 2) by [Grebe, Camilla]

click on the picture for Amazon link

In a small backwater town in Sweden, a young boy with a dark secret comes across a diary. As a cold case investigation suddenly becomes eerily current, a police investigator mysteriously disappears. What links these seemingly random events?

As atrocious acts from the past haunt the present and lives are changed forever, some will struggle to remember – while others struggle to forget . . .

The new thriller from the acclaimed author of THE ICE BENEATH HER, described as ‘Scandi-noir at its powerful bleakest’ by the Daily Mail and ‘unsettling, menacing and compulsively written’ by Heat, this is another slice of tense and twisted drama that will chill you to the bone.

I am 23% into After She’s Gone. It did get off to a slow start but it is starting to pick up speed. Jake, Hanne, and Malin are interesting characters. I can’t wait to see where this book takes them. After She’s Gone is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is February 26th, 2019. Be on the lookout for my review on or after that date.

Own To Obey (Myth of Omega Book 7) by [Ellis, Zoey]

He obtained her – and now she must obey

The Alpha Prince

Brutality and tradition are a way of life for ferocious tribe leader, Kardos. Born different from the other princes, he strives to be the best–to earn his place and prove his worth.

After negotiating for a rare Omega not seen in his Land for over one hundred years, he is keen to present her to the High Chief and gain the recognition he deserves.

It doesn’t matter that she has mesmerizing beauty, or that her manner is too mild for his culture. It doesn’t matter that deep down, a craving burns strong to keep her for himself.

She must accept her fate – and so must he.

The Omega Gift

Sheltered all her life, Omega Shaya found joy in the gardens of her home, the protection of her sister, and the simplicity of her life.

But when the decision to save her sister suddenly puts her in the possession of a fierce tribal warrior, she begins to understand that life can be savage, and painful, and complex.

Alone, and with no way to protect herself, Shaya is determined to overcome the harsh treatment of a culture she doesn’t understand, but when she finds herself attracted to the Alpha’s dominance, she has to find a way to resist him so he doesn’t break her completely; body, mind, and heart.

Own To Obey is the first book in this couple’s story, but the seventh installment of the Myth of Omega series. This is a dark, steamy, Omegaverse romance. Cliff-hanger included. For fans of barbarian Alpha anti-heroes, sweet but savvy Omega heroines, epic fantasy worlds, and captive romances. Discover a magical kind of dark…

Own To Obey includes romance and situations of a dark nature. Some aspects of this story may be sensitive for some readers. For ages 18 and over

I got Own to Obey as a last minute ARC from a publisher who’s review team I joined. While I liked this book, it will not be for most people. There are some scenes that made me wince. Own to Obey is currently available to buy. Be on the lookout for my review at some point today.

The Winter of the Witch: A Novel (Winternight Trilogy Book 3) by [Arden, Katherine]

Her destiny uncertain, Vasya will uncover surprising truths about herself and her history as she desperately tries to save Russia, Morozko, and the magical world she treasures. But she may not be able to save them all.

I have been waiting patiently to read Winter of the Witch. And it is up next!! I am excited and can’t wait. I need to know what is going to happen to Vasya and Morozko. Winter of the Witch is currently available to buy. Be on the lookout for my review at some point this week.

Bethlehem caught my attention when I got the invite to review. I thought that the cover was beautiful and the blurb made me want to read it. So I accepted the invite. Bethlehem is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is July 9th, 2019. My review should be after that date.

I can’t wait to read Inspection. The blurb makes it seem like it is going to be a fantastic read!! Inspection is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is March 19th, 2019. Look for my review after that date.

An English professor starts a new chapter in her life and is swept up in a Jane Austen-esque romance with a modern day duke

Bonnie Blythe has modeled her life after her favorite books. If only her fiancé would get on the same page and agree to a wedding date.

She’s not at all bitter that her best friend is getting married to a man she’s known for less than a year, and Bonnie most definitely isn’t thinking about the best man to be, Theo Wharton. It’s just whenever she talks with the blue-eyed Brit, sparks fly.

When a shocking reveal ends Bonnie’s engagement, she accepts a summer teaching job at Cambridge—only an hour away from Theo. Bonnie isn’t ready for a new relationship, but the chemistry between her and Theo is impossible to ignore. But Theo’s been hiding the truth about his identity; will Bonnie be able to weather the plot twist and grab the happily ever after of her dreams?

I am very excited to read Smitten by the Brit!! I had read (and reviewed) Getting Hot with Scot and enjoyed it. So, I have high hopes for this book. Smitten by the Brit is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is May 28th, 2019. Be on the lookout for my review after that date.

One young woman learns the true nature of power–both her own and others’–in the riveting conclusion to The Waking Land Trilogy.

Sophy Dunbarron–the illegitimate daughter of a king who never was–has always felt like an impostor. Separated from her birth mother, raised by parents mourning the loss of their true daughter, and unacknowledged by her father, Sophy desires only a place and a family to call her own. But fate has other ideas. Caught up in Elanna Valtai’s revolution, Sophy has become the reigning monarch of a once-divided country–a role she has been groomed her whole life to fill.

But as she quickly discovers, wearing a crown is quite a different thing from keeping a crown. With an influx of magic-bearing refugees pouring across the border, resources already thinned by war are stretched to the breaking point. Half the nobility in her court want her deposed, and the other half question her every decision. And every third person seems to be spontaneously manifesting magical powers.

When Elanna is captured and taken to Paladis, Sophy’s last ally seems to have vanished. Now it is up to her alone to navigate a political maze that becomes more complex and thorny by the day. And worse, Sophy is hiding a huge secret–one that could destroy her tenuous hold on the crown forever.

Another book that I can’t wait to read. I have read the previous 2 books in the trilogy and I can’t wait to read Sophy’s story. The Soul of Power is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is June 4th, 2019. Look for my review after that date.

The first in a wickedly seductive new Scottish historical romance series from New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Enoch!

Marry or lose their estate; that’s the devil’s bargain he and his brothers must follow. But wild Highlander Niall MacTaggert’s stubborn oldest brother wants nothing to do with marrying the sophisticated, pinky-out Lady Amelia-Rose his mother has chosen for him, even to save their land. Niall’s only goal is to soften up the London socialite, and show his brother the warm beauty behind the shiny, polished front. But what Niall doesn’t expect to find is the woman of his dreams…

I got this book solely because of the title. Everytime I see it, I get Nelly’sIt’s Getting Hot in Here” in my head. It’s Getting Scot in here is currently on preorder. It’s expected publication date is February 26th, 2019. Be on the lookout for my review on February 27th, 2019 (part of the blog tour).

So that’s it. Be on the lookout for the reviews of all these books in the near future.
