What I am Reading Now:
You knew a teenager like Charlie Crabtree. A dark imagination, a sinister smile–always on the outside of the group. Some part of you suspected he might be capable of doing something awful. I am super excited to FINALLY be reading The Shadows. I say finally because I had put this book on hold in September 2020 and it just now became available to me. So, yes I will reading this book as soon as I can (lunch today).

All that changed when the ISS Intrepid was threatened with destruction and he quickly became the only thing between these civilians and instant death
Gino Cataldi is a man hanging on by a thread. Cancer took his wife, and drugs put his son in rehab. All he has left is his badge.
When a teenage girl is kidnapped it brings back nightmares from the worst case he ever worked—the one that tore his life to shreds and forced him out of Philadelphia.
Gino doesn’t want this case but he knows he has to take it. Not just to save the girl, but to earn redemption for what went wrong in Philly.

What I am Reading Now:

I have been reading Legacy for the past 4 days which is unlike me. But, I have had a resurgence of my bladder infection and reading has not been my agenda. Hopefully, I will be able to finish Legacy tonight, tomorrow at the latest (I am 26% into the book). So far, it is typical NR and I am loving it. Just not loving this super infection that is sapping my energy.

What I am Reading Now:

I did get some books off last week’s IMWAR. And by some, I mean 1. I ended up with two loans coming off loan from the library and an ARC that I needed to read (the review is due tomorrow). I do plan on getting to these books this week!!

What I am Reading Now:
Layla just wants to fit in at school and go on a date with Zayne, whom she’s crushed on since forever. Trouble is, Zayne treats Layla like a sister–and Layla is a half demon, half gargoyle with abilities no one else possesses. And even though Zayne is a Warden, part of the race of gargoyles tasked with keeping humanity safe, Layla’s kiss will kill anything with a soul–including him.
Then she meets Roth–a demon who claims to know her secrets. Though Layla knows she should stay away, it’s tough when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue. I am loving this book so much. I was laughing my ass off while reading it Saturday night (in bed at 12am). I couldn’t get enough of Layla, Zayne, and Roth. I should be finishing White Hot Kiss today.

I plan on getting to most of these books this week. I definitely will be reading the first three (one NetGalley and two that have been sitting on my TBR for ages). I do have another book coming off hold from the library, at some point this week. When that happens, I will rearrange this list around.

What I am Reading Now:
A virus stole fertility from many people long ago, ending society over several generations. The United States became the Seven Cities of America.
Chicago, cut off from the other cities, ruled in darkness, is home to the scientist who created the virus. Hateful of humanity, hateful of himself, the dying scientist passes his knowledge on to his apprentice, who he believes will use it to damn all life to everlasting misery.
The apprentice, Harold, his own past stained with unforgivable acts, does not share his master’s hatred. But he wants this knowledge, and would shamelessly kill innocents to get it. But to what end, he struggles to realize— all the while wondering if humanity, worthless as it seems, deserves compassion more than he deserves omniscience.

I started The Last City of America last night and are about 18-20% into it. I am not sure how I feel about it. It goes between 1st person and 3rd person and the chapters are from the viewpoint of different characters in the book. The beginning was slow to start and it is still slow going right now. Hopefully it will pick up.

Then she meets Archie Carmichael. Handsome, wealthy—the only man she’s ever met who seems to accept her modern ways—her independent nature and passion for success. Again, another SMP request (they are good to me!!). I was drawn in by the cover and the blurb cemented my decision. I grew up hearing about Ziegfeld Follies (my grandmother was a huge fan of their radio program). I am hoping that this book lives up to my expectations!!
These next 3 books are a “I might read if I get through the first book in record time” (its 627 pages). If I don’t get to them this week, I will next week.

What I am Reading Now:

I am having a really hard time getting through this book. Brina and Zane are not vibing with me. He has been coming across as pushy and somewhat stalkery. She has been coming off as almost too independent for the era (did I just say that!!!). There is sexual chemistry and Brina’s backstory with mental illness is interesting. So, yes, I am disappointed. But I am holding out for the book to become good (is that a thing?).

Because of my illness (which started on Thursday), I didn’t read anything last week. I also added a couple of books to the pile that needs to be read this week….sigh. I am hoping to at least get through 2 (and if I’m lucky 3), this week. So, here’s my list. I am doing these books in priority order.
Helicopter Adventure Prison Survival Family Struggle
A Private Heaven is an adventure-filled drama based on a true story. Like Norman Maclean’s A River Runs Through It, this is the story of two brothers as opposite as Cain and Abel.
When Dave, the impulsive, younger brother completes his tour of duty in Vietnam, he moves his young family to Newfoundland, where he embarks on a challenging, often dangerous career as a helicopter pilot. Dave’s older brother, a six-foot-four, muscle-bound convict, has Hollywood good looks, a charming smile, and a serious penchant for violence.

This is outside of books that I usually read. But the author had emailed me with a review request and the blurb caught my attention. So, here’s to hoping that I like it!!

The Last City of America is a character-driven epic touching every corner of America, exposing every level of its beauty. The individual emulates humanity, and humanity’s faults are written in the individual. The two walk with one another into the final decision. Cities fall one-by-one to man’s ignorance. The world is ending. This time forever. Two hands reach out to save it: good and evil.
This is the story of how we will be remembered.
This is that last book that I have put off for a couple of weeks. While I expect to start it this week, I do not think I will finish it. The book is 647 pages long. It is going to take me at least 2 days to get through (and I am a fast reader).

How to Train Your Earl was a publisher request that I decided to accept last week. This is my first ARC review since I went on break and I am excited about it!! I am a huge Regency/historical romance fan, so it was a no-brainer that I was going to accept this book. Since this is an ARC, my review will not be published right away. Look for it around April 27th!!

What I am Reading Now:

I am about 20-25% into Sanyare: The Last Descendant. I would have been finished with it by now (and moved onto the next book on my list) but I had two books come off hold from the library: Girls of Paper and Fire (which I LOVED and read in 1 day) and The Sun is Also a Star. As soon as I am done with The Sun is Also a Star, I will resume reading Sanyare: The Last Descendant.
What I Plan on Reading This Week:
