Goodreads Synopsis:

Emma Smith hadn’t been straight with her new boss, but he hadn’t given her much of a chance to explain. Trapped in her own lies and uncertainties Emma was running in fear of losing her baby. Deke Travers, the oldest son on the 4 Bar None Ranch, needed one thing to make his life more peaceful, his brothers to settle down and get with the business of ranching. There was only one solution, to marry them off to country girls. And Emma will be the first bride on the 4 Bar None Ranch.

Don’t let this book’s title or cover fool you; it was an adorable romance. I almost didn’t download it because of the title and cover. But I can forgive the title after reading the book and seeing what Emma was doing. But the cover, no way. I’m not too fond of it. So, if the author reads this blog, please change it!!!

The story itself was cute. I did think Emma was dense and very thick-headed. She could have told Deke that Sammi Jo wasn’t hers at any point. He told her how he felt about people who withheld the truth, and she still didn’t say anything, which made me smack my head at one point in the story.

I loved that the author made everyone out to sound like they were from Texas. I could almost hear the drawl coming from them, and with her wording, it was like they were right in bed with me. Well, not exactly in bed, but you know what I mean.

I liked that it was clean, with no sex. Some kissing, yes. But none of the other stuff.

I did question what decade this book took place. It came across as the late 60’s/early ’70s to me. There was no usage of the Internet or cell phones, so that might have piqued my interest. I also wonder if Sammi Jo will have a follow-up romance novel. Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Will I reread this book, and will I recommend it to friends? Change the cover, and I definitely will recommend it. I would recommend it even with the cover.
