So, 2020 is finally coming to an end. I am happy its ending. It has been a rough year for me (along with millions of other people). I am hoping for next year to be better.
I am not going to focus on the personal stuff from this year. Instead, I am going to focus on what 2021 will bring. Hopefully good things!!
Reading-wise, this year has sucked for me. I went from reviewing almost every day to not publishing anything to only memes with an odd review every now and again. I actually stopped reading from March to June. I was so overwhelmed with everything that was happening that picking up my Kindle and reading repulsed me. Thankfully, I got over that and have been reading my little heart out.
The only thing I haven’t gotten back into is reading ARC’s. I like not having a deadline to write and publish the post by. I also like that I am whittling down my TBR list. I went from 599 to 548 (Yay me!!).
I discovered a couple of new book logging sites. The StoryGraph and Bookhype. The StoryGraph also lets you track reading challenges, which leads into my next paragraph. I have also been using my library card a ton. My library supports Libby and I have been checking out/putting books on hold through them. So, my reading world has expanded beyond freebies on Amazon.
I did participate in reading challenges this year. I wasn’t expecting to finish any of them (and for the most part, I didn’t). My reading challenges were:
2020 Reading Challenge on Goodreads. I actually met my goal!! I thought that with not reading for a few months would set me back.
The StoryGraph OnBoarding 2020 Reading Challenge. I finished at 67%.
The UnRead Shelf Project 2020. I finished at 50%.
PopSugar Reading Challenge 2020. For this challenge, I finished at 45%.
I started all of these challenges in either August or September. I feel that I did a fairly good job with them all, considering that I joined almost at the end.
Now, onto the ones I joined for this year (and I kinda overkilled it here….lol):
2021 Goodreads Reading Challenge. I am going to set a goal of 250 books again.
Book Riot’s 2021 Read Harder Challenge
The StoryGraph’s Translation Challenge 2021
Popsugar Reading Challenge 2021
Exploring New Horizons – Reading Challenge 2021
The StoryGraph’s Genre Challenge 2021
The Booklist Queen Reading Challenge 2021
I know that those are a lot of challenge for the up coming year. And I am aware that I might not get to all of them. But I can try!! Right.
Now for my bookish New Years Resolutions. Be aware that most or all of these might not be kept….lol.
- Being better at maintaining my blog. Yes, I went there. I have a crap ton of things to do that I have let slide since March. Sigh.
- Being better at posting things other than memes. That means posting more book reviews. I know I need to post more of those and I am hoping to eventually get up to 2 or 3 a week instead of 1 every other week.
- Reading books outside of my comfort zone. I have a list of genres that I don’t or won’t read. I am hoping that some of these challenges will help me broaden my reading horizons.
So that’s it. I am not listing all the books that I have read this year because, well, it will make the post go on forever. So, see ya 2020 and welcome 2021!!
