Quarantine: Week 2

Homeschooling has gotten better since my last update. Schools here in North Carolina are out until May 16th. When that came out (and I was 100% expecting it), the teachers went into overdrive. There was no change with my 6th and 8th graders, they are still doing lessons through their school issues Chromebooks. I will say that it is a mess with them, though. There is no structure. There is either a ton of lessons or nothing. No happy medium. It is frustrating me but I am being patient. I know that this is new and the teachers have to adapt.

With Miss R, there was some change and all of it good. The kindergarten teachers (there are 3) got together and put together a schedule. So, I have structure for each day. She has daily worksheets for Math and ELA. They have us working on specific websites (Freckle, Reading A to Z, and IXL) for ELA and Math. On top of that, her teacher does a daily Loom meeting and they meet twice a week for a Zoom meeting. It is working out well.

Reading wise, I did finish one book.

Breaking Josephine

It was an “eh” book for me. I didn’t care for the main characters. I was right about it being an older man/younger woman romance. The ick factor for me was that the female main character was 2 years older than the male main’s daughter. I am thinking that age was the “forbidden” part. She was 18 and he was in his mid to late 30’s. There was also light spanking but that didn’t bother me that much.

The book I am reading now is fantastic.

It’s Not Over

This is a book with several different troupes. They are Mafia, second chance and hidden lives. I haven’t finished it yet (almost there) but it has me hooked. There are 5 other books in the series and I have them on my want to read list!!

I am hoping to read more since I have gotten on a schedule with school. Since we are on a stay at home order (until April 30th), I am thinking that I will have more time to read. I am also hoping to start putting up some more content!!

So, until next time. Stay safe!!

  1. I am glad that things are getting organized for the kids and home instruction. Here in our board, the teachers have just starting doing online instruction and lessons so I totally get the disorganization. There are a lot of teachers that are not computer literate, so there are steps for everyone. Hang in there and I am glad you are still getting some time to read.

    1. We’re still having issues with the teachers supplying enough work (for my 6th and 8th graders). My 8th grader went a whole week without any assignments. I was making up things for her to do. Other than that, we’ve had very few bumps.
