Quarantine: Week 1

This past week has been….interesting. I have become a (and this is long) Kindergarten/3rd grade/6th grade/8th grade (times 2) homeschooler (I have my friend’s kids during the day). My past week has been feverishly trying to set a schedule for my kids and my bonus kids. It has been exhausting.

But I’m doing it. I was so proud of myself because I taught Miss R how to tell hour time on an analog clock. She can point at the clock and tell me what hour it is. Now ask her about half hours and minutes and you get a blank look but we’re going to work on that. I also taught my bonus son (my friends son) how to decipher military time. I told him to subtract 12 from whatever time it was. Say it was 13:00, just subtract 12 and you get 1. He was amazed…lol.

As for the coronavirus, there are only 4 known cases in my county, none in my city. I know that it is going to change. We are prepared, though. I do have to be careful going out, though. I have Hashimoto’s Disease and have a higher risk of catching it. Also, Miss R has a compromised immune system. We went to Target on Sunday and, for the first time, I wore gloves and I made the kids wear them too. I got weird looks, but I need to be healthy. I can’t get sick!!

As for reading, I did read one book last week. ONE BOOK!!! I usually read 3-4 books (or more). I didn’t write a review because this is out of my personal library and I didn’t have the time. The book I read:

Yesterday’s Gone.

It was an interesting take on a post apocalyptic world. It was released as a serial book (I got Season One, which was books 1-6). It isn’t about a virus wiping out humanity. Instead, its something more interesting. I am going to have to pick up Season Two because I was a little miffed by how book 6 ended.

Next up on my list (again from my personal library):

Breaking Josephine

It’s a “forbidden” historical romance. But, the blurb makes it out to be an older man/younger women with possible a little light spanking romance involved. Not sure how that’s forbidden? I guess I’ll find out when I read the book.

So, that’s all. I’ll try to update regularly. Please, leave a comment and update on how you are doing.

And be safe. Practice social distancing/handwashing and obeying the shelter in place mandates!!

I love to read. My favorite genres women's fiction, romance (including erotica), psychological thrillers, fantasy, and young adult. I also enjoy steampunk, dystopian, LGBTQIA, and paranormal. I am also a busy mom of 3 kids.

  1. Take care of yourself and family Jolie. Most of us are all taking precautions, but some people seem to think it doesn’t mean them. I am glad you are enjoying your home schooling escapades. It will sure keep you busy.

    1. Thank you Carla. Yes. There was a guy from a town a couple of towns over who went into a Walmart, coughed, and said he had the coronavirus….smh. He got arrested but still.

Homeschooling hijinks….lol. Things have smoothed out but there are bumps.

      Keep yourself safe too Carla!!!
