WWW Wednesday: March 27th, 2019

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Wars.

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Miss R: Her allergies are under control. She started T-ball yesterday. Which was funny because she wasn’t a fan of running around. Told her dad and myself that she was done with the day when we got to the car. Which she was. She fell as asleep right after her shower.

Mr. Z: He had sex ed this week. In this school system, sex ed is started in 5th grade. The school system brings in people to talk to the kids on their grade level. So, I asked Mr. Z how it went on Monday. He turned beet red and didn’t want to talk about it. I did get out of him that they talked about body image. But everything else, he didn’t want to talk about it.

Miss B: She has been a moody teen this past week. Everything is eyerolls and huge sighs. I told her that if she rolled her eyes any harder, that they would fall out. She didn’t appreciate that. I did have to take her to the Dr last week. She was running a fever and was getting dizzy when standing up along with bad headaches. Diagnosis: She had a viral infection. She also was dehydrated. The Dr was concerned about her headaches and said if they continued, to come back in and they would run more tests. She’s to drink 64oz of water a day and sit in the sun for an hour.

Me: More yard work this past weekend. Our back area had been neglected. So, I took my huge clippers, the hacksaw, and a pair of gloves and went to work. End result: A huge pile of baby trees and nettles in front of my house. I am hurting but it was worth it. It looks nice back there!!

Reading: I am still struggling to finish books. But with the kids not feeling well and me being up late at night with Miss R’s coughing, I’m not surprised by that. I did get a chance to sit down yesterday and read. I finished 2 books!! I am 5 books behind on my Goodreads reading challenge. Not too worried about that either. Come summer, I’ll more than catch up.

Review/Blog: I am trying to find a happy place with writing my reviews. I am going back and forth with ways of writing them. So, apologizes if you see a ton of changes.

As for the blog, I decided to splurge on myself last week. I upgraded my Grammarly to the premium package (it was on sale, which was fantastic). I got rid of Hemingway because the premium package does everything that Hemingway did. I am also feeling the itch to change my blog’s appearance again. If I do decide to do change the blog again, I apologize.

What I am currently reading:

The Ash Family: A Novel by [Dektar, Molly]
click on the picture for the Amazon link

When a young woman leaves her family—and the civilized world—to join an off-the-grid community headed by an enigmatic leader, she discovers that belonging comes with a deadly cost, in this lush and searing debut novel.

At nineteen, Berie encounters a seductive and mysterious man at a bus station near her home in North Carolina. Shut off from the people around her, she finds herself compelled by his promise of a new life. He ferries her into a place of order and chaos: the Ash Family farm. There, she joins an intentional community living off the fertile land of the mountains, bound together by high ideals and through relationships she can’t untangle. Berie—now renamed Harmony—renounces her old life and settles into her new one on the farm. She begins to make friends. And then they start to disappear.

Thrilling and profound, The Ash Family explores what we will sacrifice in the search for happiness, and the beautiful and grotesque power of the human spirit as it seeks its ultimate place of belonging.

I am not sure if I am going to like The Ash Family. I am only a couple of chapters and and Berie/Harmony is rubbing me the wrong way. The book also got off to a slow start. But, I am going to hang in there and hope that it gets better. The Ash Family and currently on pre-order. It’s expected publication date is April 9th, 2019.

I recently finished reading:

Trusting The Billionaire: A Marriage Of Convenience Romance (The Billionaire's Reluctant Bride Book 3) by [Savage, Cynthia]
click on the picture for the Amazon link

A jaded divorcee and a lovelorn billionaire get a second chance at romance.

Audrey Wilson is convinced love is a pipedream, and she has the divorce decree to prove it. Not to mention a failing non-profit facility full of battered and abused women. When her best friend gets her heart broken by a guy who claims a dating coach taught him how to play women, Audrey is ready to confront this coach and make him pay.

And she has a hunch he’s none other than brainy billionaire Asher Weston.

Asher has a bad case of unrequited love that goes all the way back to his high school days. When one of his clients blackmails him, forcing him to find a wife on a deadline, he’s ready to give up on living happily ever after with the woman of his dreams.

Until she unexpectedly waltzes into his office.

A marriage of convenience gets him the wife he needs—and the woman he’s always loved. For Audrey, this platonic arrangement affords her non-profit some financial security while she secretly sets out to prove Asher is the mastermind behind her bestie’s heartache.

Can Asher and Audrey overcome a jealous secretary, a dangerous ex, and their own insecurities to build a future together?

I was pleasantly surprised by Trusting the Billionaire. I wasn’t expecting it to have the depth that it did. It is also clean. Zero sex. Which I wasn’t expecting. Trusting the Billionaire is currently available for purchase.

Lord Thomas Hobbs, Duke of Huntley, thinks his best friend Delilah’s quest to become a duchess is ridiculous. He’s always said he’d rather give up all the brandy in London than commit to one person for life. Besides, he knows that Delilah’s love potion can’t possibly win over Branville…since she accidentally gave it to him instead. But perhaps this is the excuse he needs to show her he’s always loved her…

Delilah can’t believe she gave the potion to the wrong duke. Then again, Delilah could do a lot worse than win the hand of her handsome best friend. Could it be that the right duke has been before her eyes all along?

Novi Navarro is a working-class barmaid who’s used to running her tavern and running her mouth. When she gets assigned to Prince Fallon’s harem by mistake, she thinks it’s a complete joke. 1. The first day of t-ball for my dear daughter, she hit the catcher, her best friend, squarely between the eyes with the bat. It was her first and her last day. It sounds as if yours went a tad bit better. 😉 I love The Promise. I hope you enjoy it as well.
