I love to read. My favorite genres women's fiction, romance (including erotica), psychological thrillers, fantasy, and young adult. I also enjoy steampunk, dystopian, LGBTQIA, and paranormal. I am also a busy mom of 3 kids.

  1. I totally agree. I was just thinking this morning that I wasn’t enjoying blogging as much as I did when I first began because there seems to be this “standard” that is forming regarding the way we “should” be blogging. I wrote reviews for a newspaper – a very VERY small one – so mine tend to follow those old guidelines. Trying to be trendy or cute or conform to publishers’ wants or needs is not something I’m comfortable with at all. These are supposed to be our thoughts, our opinions about a book that we’ve read and instead we’re seeing more and more publisher’s blurbs. I want to know your thoughts, warts and all, good grammar or not, funny or boring or just downright silly. If I want to read a publisher’s blurb I can go to Amazon. On the other hand, if doing that floats someone’s boat, then it’s their blog and they can do what they want. I have the option to read it – or not. 🙂

    1. Mackey, please don’t stop posting reviews!! I love reading them (even if I don’t always comment).

I got in the same mindset over the summer. But I figured this out. Those same people who emailed me and told me how “my reviews sucked” could just as easily hit the back button. Like you said, my reivew is my thoughts on the book. Not a rehash of what other people wrote. Plus, I must be doing something right. I have publishers and indie authors emailing me constantly for reviews…lol.
