I’ve decided to do Throwback Thursday but blog style. I am going to select a book I have read before and see if I would still read it.
This week’s Throwback Thursday is a romance/suspense.
Special Author’s Cut Updated Edition of Desert Rose
Originally Published as a Bantam Loveswept (# 555)
The secret police of a renegade Middle East nation hold two politically sensitive prisoners separate from the others… Marine Corps aviator David Winslow and humanitarian relief worker Emma Hamilton are the sole inmates of a special cellblock. They bond emotionally and sensually, despite being housed in separate cells, as they endure interrogations, torture, and the constant threat of death. When fate unexpectedly liberates them from the prison compound, their dash for freedom includes the seductive culmination of weeks of emotional foreplay. But once they flee the country, David doubts Emma’s certainty that she is in love with him. He fears that she feels only gratitude.
Did I like Desert Rose when I first read it? Yes, I did. I gave it a 5-star rating but left no review. To be honest, I barely remember reading this book. But I do remember thinking that the plot line was unbelievable. So, why I gave this book a 5-star rating is beyond me.
Age I first read Desert Rose: Goodreads has me shelving it in January 2013. So I would have been 36. Also, fun fact, I was very newly pregnant with Miss R.
Would I read Desert Rose now? No. From what I remember of the book, I thought the storyline unrelatable and the plotline unbelievable.
How many stars did I give Desert Rose back then: 5 stars.
How many stars would I give Desert Rose now: Based on what I remember, 2-3 stars. I would have to reread the book to give it a more true rating.
