Book synopsis (from Goodreads):

Zane Hamilton was not looking for love. He was in the process of taking over his families company and that was all he was concentrating on. Little did he know, behind his back his mom was setting him up to meet the one woman who would bring him to his knees.

Piper Linland was loving her job. She owned a florist called Flowerworks and that was all she had time for at the moment. One day she would love to find love and live a long and happy life, but she had other things in front of that. Little did she know that her favorite customer and biggest supporter was setting her up behind her back.

When Zane meets Piper for the first time he was blown away. He felt something that he had never felt before and that scared him into running and hiding his feelings.

It takes one moment of Piper getting hurt for all of his walls to come crashing down. Will Piper give him another chance to prove himself, or is it too late?

Trigger Warning: stalking

My review:

Romance novels are the backbone of what I read. I started reading Harlequin when I was 13-14 years old. So when I got the opportunity to review Flowers with Love, I accepted. I liked what I read in the synopsis and I figured it would be a quick read. Well, it was a quick read. But, there is so much more to this book.

The plot of Flowers with Love was pretty basic. A meddling mother decides to take fate into her hands. She tries to set her son up with the cute florist. Only one thing, both the florist and the son want nothing to do with each other. Things go back and forth until the son decides that he wants a relationship with the florist. They start a relationship, only to have it derailed at a family function. An ex, obsessed with the son, makes a move on him. A move that devastates the florist and she leaves, heartbroken. The son, also devastated, works hard to win the florist back. What happens after that reminded me of an episode of Snapped. The ex flips her lid. She attacks the son and the florist. The florist is shot and injured. She is able to tell the son that she regrets that they spent any time apart. The son vows to protect the florist. What he does next starts off one of the most romantic engagements that I have ever read.

I loved Piper. She was so sweet. There were points in the book where I wanted to pick her up and hug her. I did think that her getting shot by Ava, Zane’s ex was a pretty nasty thing to happen. But it was the catalyst needed to get them together and admit their feelings for each other. That whole scene where Zane told her that he loved her was beautiful. I had a tear in my eye after reading that. I also had a tear after reading the engagement chapter too. I thought to myself “Girl, you landed a good one there“.

Zane rubbed me the wrong way at first. He came across as such a jerk. The way he acted towards Piper reminded me of when I was in elementary school. You had that one kid who always did or said mean things to you. Years later, you find out that he liked you. Yeah, that was Zane. But, once he came to terms with his feelings for her, he was good. I liked that he took full responsibility for what happened with Ava at the party. I also liked that he was willing to do anything to get Piper back. He was there for her while she was in the hospital. After she recovered, he then did the world’s most romantic engagement. Yes, I know I mentioned that a few times in this review. It was very, very, very romantic.

There is sex in the book. It is not mentioned and you need to use your imagination, which I liked. I like graphic sex scenes as much as the next person, but sometimes well all you need is it to use your imagination. It works as well as the graphic sex scenes.

Now I mentioned this in Building on Love but the author did something that I am not sure I liked. She introduced the next book’s couple towards the middle of this one. Like I said in the review of Building on Love, this is something I haven’t seen before and I am not too sure if I like it.

The end of the book was pretty typical. I say typical because Piper and Zane got their happily ever after. The author did a great job of wrapping up the major storylines, mainly the one with the stalker. I was pretty happy with the way the book ended.

Flowers with Love is a fast-paced romance that has a dash of suspense in it. I loved the main characters. I also loved the plotline. I can see myself reading this book again.

Will I reread: Yes

Will I recommend to family and friends: Yes

Age range: Adult

Why: Language and violence. There is a lot of heavy petting and kissing but no outright sex scenes

I would like to thank Mirissa Snow for allowing me to read and review Flowers with Love.
